Services
All Federal agencies are required to comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Some agencies manage 100s or even 1000s of websites and publish even more documents. Finding the resources to meet Section 508 requirements is often times very challenging.
508 Ally provides a pool of talented individuals with extensive knowledge of Section 508 standards. Our Section 508 testers are “Certified Trusted Testers” and are proficient in assessing ICT for conformance to Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 Standards.
Validating Conformance to Section 508 Standards
Web Pages and Attached Content
Our team of web accessibility experts will perform manual and automated reviews of your website. You will be provided with an accessibility report that will include the following:
-
Report summary of all content that does not conform to the WCAG 2.0 AA Success Criteria and Section 508 Standards with an easy-to-understand explanation of each error
-
Provide developers with detailed error description and remediation tips
-
Priority ratings provided for each error enabling your team to prioritize remediation efforts
Electronic Documents
Our document assessment team follows leading practices identified by the Accessible Electronic Documents Community of Practice (AED COP) of the Federal CIO Council. We also incorporate guidance provided by the General Services Administration and the Access Board, who are responsible for creating Section 508 Standards and providing technical guidance and training.
While we perform testing on all electronic documents, we are most proficient in documents created in Microsoft and Adobe applications, as these are the authoring applications used by most Federal agencies.
Document Remediation
Our remediation team is highly skilled in remediating PDFs, as well as other electronic documents, and are backed by 10+ years of document remediation. This high level of experience allows us to provide a fast turnaround time for our clients.
All remediated documents are returned with a full report of errors that were remediated and a guarantee that the documents are fully accessible and meet Section 508 standards.
For large backlogs of inaccessible documents we will work with you to develop a remediation plan based on your priorities, budget and schedule.
Role Based Training
Remediating nonconforming content uses more resources (labor and cost) than if Section 508 conformance practices were considered early in development.
508 Ally offers role based training tailored to your team's products and services. We work with teams in the applications they work in, including most Microsoft and Adobe products.
